CHECK OUT THE PROGRAM

Community, culture and nature are the most important components of Katuaq's family festival, which will be held for the ninth time in 2023.

For Nuummiut, the Qooqqut Festival is a prioritized and unifying event where families can spend quality time together, sharing culture and in the middle of our beautiful fjordsystem.

Qooqqut Festival is a very special recurring and free cultural event in the middle of nature. The program preserves cultural heritage and cultural identity. The festival broadens horizons through innovative collaborations and cultural exchange with local, Nordic and Arctic countries.

Since 2015, Qooqqut Festival has been very successful in bringing together the best of the cultural riches we have in the country: our ways of being together in nature, a strong artistic program and cultural workshops where you can learn more about our culture, as well as preserve and develop it together.

Entertainment

With a focus on traditional and modern Greenlandic culture, there are activities, music, art, culture and workshops for children and families.

Artists and actors get the opportunity to develop their knowledge and share this with the citizens at the festival, just as they participate in collaboration and cultural exchange with local and foreign artists.

In this year's programme, we draw attention to the theme so that participating artists and actors can incorporate it into their performance, workshop or communication, if they wish.

Myths and legends – Kaassassuk

For the next few years, the festival will focus on certain Greenlandic myths and legends as overarching themes.

This year, the festival will focus on the legend of Kaassassuk - the orphan boy who was ostracized from the settlement and who was given strong powers by the helping spirits.

This will be communicated through our storytelling, songwriting, tests of strength and in the graphic material produced in connection with the marketing.

This year, the theme's illustrations are drawn by the Greenlandic artist Miki Jacobsen
