Qooqqut Festival
Opening ceremony
Nuka Alice Lund is helping to popularize and revitalize drum dancing, drum singing, and traditional dance (tivaneq) in Greenland. She composes her own drum songs, passing them on to others through workshops and performances. In 2009, she learned drum dancing from Pauline Lumholdt, and that same year, she created her very first drum song.
After Inuit drum dancing was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2021, she began dedicating herself full-time as an independent practitioner to drum dancing and drum singing.
In the spring of 2025, Nuka Alice published her first book, Inngerta. It contains 12 drum songs—both her own and some created in collaboration with others—which have been arranged so they can be performed by choirs.
