Join a unique journey to Northeast Greenland as the first Greenlandic member of the Sirius Sledge Patrol, Alfred Olsen, visits Katuaq in conversation with Lasse Rahbek.
Alfred Olsen from Sisimiut was the first Greenlander to be admitted to the legendary special unit Sirius in 1970. In this new talk, the audience gets an up-close look at what it was like to be a patrol leader 50 years ago — when nature was just as harsh as it is today, but the equipment and conditions were completely different.
Alfred shares dramatic stories that were never included in the DR1 series SIRIUS, which photographer and director Lasse Rahbek spent three years filming. In the talk, they both share their knowledge and experiences from the vast Northeast.
Look forward to a fascinating evening featuring unique archival film footage and photographs. A rare opportunity to meet a man who has left his mark on Greenland’s history.
