Success with the Theater Performance – Over 400 Children Watched the Show

The theater performance Inooriaasitoqaq, which tells the story of old traditions, the daily lives of our ancestors, and annual rituals, was well received when it was performed in Katuaq’s small hall. Up to 470 people attended during the period it was staged, which the organizers are very pleased about.

 

"Of course, it’s touching that so many children and adults came to see the performance. Especially when they follow along so well, even though there is a lot of dialogue," says Naleraq Eugenius, who helped organize the performance.

Katuaq’s director is also pleased that the performance, created with the aim of increasing cultural knowledge among families and schools, has been a great success. Over 400 children saw the performance Inooriaasitoqaq

 

"The creators of the performance collaborated with Katuaq and Kulturrygsækken, which made it possible for many children to see the show. We are, of course, happy that Kulturrygsækken has been the link to the schools—many children have watched the performance because of them," says Katuaq’s director, Ivaaq Kriegel.

New plans to the future

The performance Inooriaasitoqaq was shown in Katuaq’s small hall from February 18 to February 22, and the organizers are very grateful for the support:

 

"We thank Katuaq for providing the space and allowing us to use the National Theatre’s mask. We also thank Kuka’s family for making raven costumes. Furthermore, we are very grateful to Kristian’s girlfriend’s family for accommodating him while he was in Nuuk. And most importantly, we send a huge thank you for all the support we have received from people," says Naleraq Eugenius, concluding:

 

"People always look forward to us creating new performances. Right now, we are planning to make one about Christmas."
