Mala Janussen

Mala Janussen was born in 2013 and became interested in music at the age of 5 or 6, quietly and with great fascination watching his grandfather play the guitar. I discovered that in the beginning, he was singing without melody – it turned out he was humming along with his grandfather’s playing. At the age of six, he received a guitar as a Christmas present from his mother, though he was a bit disappointed at first, thinking it was a large toy. Soon after, however, he began experimenting on his own and progressed rapidly.

His mother created the Facebook group “Mala and his guitar”, which gained a lot of attention and popularity. Through it, he was invited to perform in both South and West Greenland, and he has already performed three concerts in his hometown of Ilulissat.

His repertoire consists of gentle Greenlandic love songs. He may seem a bit old for his age and is highly empathetic. He has already learned to play several melodies from the Greenlandic hymnbook.

Deeply passionate about music, he also plays piano, drums, and electric guitar, which is one of his favorites.

He is looking forward to traveling to Qooqqut.
