Paarnaq Rosing Jakobsen was born in 1989 and grew up in Nuuk. She is a trained psychologist, and this is her first poetry publication.
For many years, there have not been many poetry publications in Greenland’s literary world, and the thirst among poets for new releases has been great. Paarnaq has now published a poetry collection titled Taartumi sulugissarpoq, which contains more than 100 profound poems.
In her poetry, Paarnaq touches on themes such as masked identity and conveys an important message about not defining oneself by the limitations of the past.
Paarnaq’s powerful and meaningful poems give readers strength. Her use of language is unique, and she demonstrates her linguistic skills by creating vivid imagery—something rarely seen in modern Greenland. In this way, she offers hope that the Greenlandic language can be preserved far into the future.
During the event, the walls between Lillesalen and Cafétuaq will be open, so you and your friends can enjoy a refreshing drink while listening.
