Experience five of Europe’s leading brass soloists in an evening of virtuosic chamber music
The program features works by Thorvald Hansen, Carl Nielsen, John Dowland, Frederic Devreese, Vivaldi, Malcolm Arnold – and The Beatles!
The Reinhold Friedrich Brass Quintet was founded in 2017 by the renowned trumpet soloist, Professor Reinhold Friedrich, and brings together five of Europe’s finest brass players in a vibrant and dynamic chamber ensemble. The quintet consists of Prof. Reinhold Friedrich (solo trumpet, Lucerne Festival Orchestra), Prof. Jeroen Berwaerts (former solo trumpet, NDR Symphony Orchestra), Lasse Mauritzen (principal horn, Danish National Symphony Orchestra), Prof. Ian Bousfield (former solo trombone, Vienna Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra), and Thomas Røisland (principal tuba, Danish National Symphony Orchestra).
Driven by a shared pursuit of artistic excellence, a curiosity for the brass quintet repertoire, and the joy of making music together at the highest technical level, the members of the quintet each bring an impressive list of international accolades, awards, and scholarships. As an ensemble, they have already made their mark with the release of their debut album Unity, a sold-out concert tour in Japan in 2022, and invitations to perform and give masterclasses at major European music festivals, including the “Galicia Brass Festival” in Spain and the “Limoux Brass Festival” in France in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
