The music band Qarsoq was formed in 1980, and at that time the journalist John Jakobsen, who wrote the article, gave the band the name Damgaard Band.
Since the beginning, it has been Albrecht Damgaard and Hans B. Noahsen who were responsible for composing the song lyrics. It was never the band’s original plan to release an album, but in 1983 the MC cassette Qimappagit was released, and the band officially adopted the name Qarsoq.
After their first cassette release, the group went on to release seven albums and has sold over 25,000 copies in total (excluding releases via iPod, CD, and other formats).
