17. April 2026

We would like to share a truly special experience from Katuaq.

On April 16, 2026, the event “Taallanik atuaaneq” was held by Birte Olsen in Katuaq’s small hall with support from NunaFonden. Poems by Frederik “Kunngi” Kristensen were beautifully and movingly read by Miké Thomsen and Vivi Sørensen. Afterwards, Kunngi’s eldest son, Uusaqqak Kristensen, performed a heartfelt and familiar interpretation of his father’s poems and songs. The evening concluded with an open mic session.

After the event, we at Katuaq were informed that this exact date marks ten years since a poetry event titled “Taalliat Akunneri” took place in 2016 in the same hall. Frederik “Kunngi” Kristensen also participated at that time, presenting his poetry, and the audience had the opportunity to share their own works.

That exactly ten years later, on the same day and in the same place, poetry was once again performed – and featuring the highly respected Frederik “Kunngi” Kristensen – is both remarkable and unique. This happened without the organizers being aware of the 2016 event and therefore appears as a surprising and thought-provoking coincidence.

We would like to thank the readers, the audience, and Kunngi’s wife, Kaala, for her permission for the event. Thank you for allowing us to share this wonderful experience.
