Over the next three years, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and Katuaq have entered into an agreement to host an art and culture week for children and young people.

This year, week 43 will for the first time be held as an art and culture week dedicated to children and young people. During the week, children and young people will have the opportunity to participate in various art and cultural activities, where they can explore their creativity and experience different forms of artistic expression.

At Katuaq, we are very pleased that we, together with Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, have entered into this collaboration to create an art and culture week for children and young people. We look forward to bringing ideas to life that we have wanted to develop for a long time, while also strengthening the importance of art and culture in society through this initiative.

“We are very pleased that Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq can collaborate with Katuaq on this important project. In Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, we have always believed that the skills and talents of our children and young people are extremely valuable. Therefore, we must do even more to highlight and recognize their importance, as they are the ones who will help shape and strengthen the future. We very much look forward to this collaboration,” says Pipaluk Lynge Berthelsen, Head of Department for Leisure and Culture in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.

Through this joint project, Katuaq and Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq aim to realize their shared visions and further develop opportunities for children and young people to experience art and culture in new ways.

The goal of the art and culture week is to strengthen the understanding of and appreciation for art and culture among children and young people. The collaboration between Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and Katuaq will continue to develop in the coming years, and the ambition is that the initiative can eventually expand to the whole of Greenland.

“From Katuaq’s side, we are very happy to develop this together with Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. It would be wonderful if art and culture in the future become more visible and accessible to children and young people throughout Greenland. It is our dream that this initiative can develop into an annual nationwide art and culture week that strengthens the visibility and importance of art and culture for children and young people,” says Ivaaq Kriegel, Director of Katuaq.
