In Katuaq, the project Arnaq brought together female artists and young talents in a music and cultural initiative. The project aims not only to give space for women in music in any ways but also to highlight women’s rights.
The event was held in connection with International Women’s Day with Katuaqs Musiccoordinator Birte Olsen as a projectleader and Nina Kreutzmann Jørgensen as music director and co-founder of the project. Through workshops and collaboration, participants explored music together, shared experiences, developed ideas, and presented them in two sold out concerts at Katuaqs Hans Lynge Hall. The project also includes discussions and activities that focus on women’s rights and gender equality for the participants.
Arnaq creates a space where female musicians and young talents can meet, inspire one another, share their stories through music, and engage in dialogue about women’s rights. The project strengthens the visibility of women in Greenland’s music scene and highlights the importance of creativity, community, and equality.
In 2026 made Arnaq history to be carried out entirely by women. This meant that the performers, musicians, singers, and technical crew were all women.
The project is sponsored by: NAPA, Tips- og Lottomidlerne Pulje C, Katuaq, Arctic Sounds, Inuit Quality Clothes of Greenland, Nuuk Water Taxi.
